About Carlos

Carlos' music career started at 14 years of age in his home town San Salvador, El Salvador experimenting with newly learned chords on an old guitar. His first song was a two-chord blues and the doors to songwriting were open!

Carlos became the frontman for several bands at an early age, which gave him his first live experiences. As he experimented with different genres, his natural vocal technique and range, put him in the spotlight for the band that would become his home.

Most of Carlos' public compositions have been recorded with his band, Boneyard. There have been occasions in which music and lyrics credits have been shared with his talented bandmembers such as Luis Salazar and Diego Muyshondt. Structure and arrangements come together as collaboration with "Pandi" Cordón and "Piopi" Aviles and the rest of the band.

Carlos' influences come from The Blues, Soul, Classic Rock, Folk and Country Music. His favorite bands are The Black Crowes, The Allman Brothers Band, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Little Feat, Humble Pie, Faces and many more.

From the mid-90s to early 2000, he would transition with his band Boneyard from playing covers by the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and more recent bands like the Black Crowes and Blind Melon, to playing original tunes composed by Carlos and arranged by the whole band. The band would have their first professional recording experience at Primera Generación Records in Guatemala, changing the name to Jardín de Huesos. A name that was more adequate for their Spanish-written lyrics.

The band would be part of a famous movement in El Salvador in the late 90s which gave them some airplay but plenty of live performances. The band was always cataloged as one against all current tendencies and stuck to the classic rock kind of feel.

A long 7-year pause came for Carlos as a musician as his day job took most of his time. Nevertheless, music always finds a way in a musician's life.

His gigging days resumed with several cover projects and gave him the opportunity to start writing music again. A much more mature musical approach would make him now pursue the kind of music he always wanted to play.

During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, time was at hand and the band- now called Boneyard again- put together an EP called #lockdownsessions which was recorded separately at each bandmember's house and showcased with a series of videos premiered on YouTube and later on streamed on all platforms through CDbaby.

An LP is being recorded with tunes from the #lockdownsessions and newly recorded songs.
